There are things that are worse than prison,
With its steel doors, and shackles that bind,
And that's the limiting of one's vision -
By doubts that can bind and shackle a mind.

Greetings in solidarity - grace and peace to my brothers and sisters in Christ - to the friends I haven't met yet, I send an ocean of love with a hug upon each wave.

You would be amazed at how complicated it has become to enjoy the benefits of M.I.T.'s Between the Bars project... it's too soon to "point fingers", but before long I might have to try and file a lawsuit if my freedom of speech rights are actually being trampled upon. Somewhere "in between" those 2 extremes, I've had to "whistle like a kid in the dark". :D

Now - if anyone can figure out what I just said :D 10 BONUS POINTS L.O.L.

The "mail room" here has sent back a "package" from "Between the Bars" - I have no idea what it included.

I had HOPED that I would be able to receive a copy of "comments" posted by visitors to my little spot on the digital highway. Not so.

There have been so many "complications" - that at this point I have no idea how many of the 400 pages I've ATTEMPTED to post, have actually made it "online".

Could someone please write to me and let me know (approximately) how many pages have been posted?

The cover art has been drawn by a good friend and brother in Christ - we have plans to move forward with a line of inspirational greeting cards that can be "given away" online. (Stay tuned :D)

I want to thank the sender of that anonymous letter from Colorado - the simple beauty of that message struck a chord that resonated within my soul - NAMASTE!

Once I find out what has already been posted to BTB.org - I hope to update the site daily. I also need to find out what "hurdles" I will have to leap over, and what obstacles will arise with the mail room here - at this point it COULD just be a series of "missteps".

My next step is to file a "grievance" and find out how much of this is a minor inconvenience and how much is a problem for the American Civil Liberties Union.

One of the most beautiful things about Between the Bars - is that it attempts to bridge the gap between inmates and society. The "digital divide" might as well be the Grand Canyon - 2.3 million inmates in this country and they will be released at the rate of 700,000 per year. They will be expected to "re-enter" a society from which they have been, effectively, "cut off". Snail mail is going the way of the Pony Express, and the recidivism rate will continue to rise unless this "issue" is addressed.

As for me - I simply long to share ideas with people "beyond the wire"... It's what inspired my friend Robert Brown to draw the cover art of butterflies making their way "Between the Bars" :D. Once, he asked why I was always "taking notes" as we made our way across the compound. I told him that I was collecting "thoughts" the way some people collect butterflies - later I would "pin these thoughts to the page". :D (MUCH more on that concept at a later date). :D

Once again - at this point I can't expect that "comments" posted will be able to make it to me here at Century... Perhaps it will take a simple "grievance process" or maybe a civil suit. In the meantime, "feedback" would be like water to a thirsty man. PLEASE WRITE!

May God continue to make His face to shine upon you all.

Bro. Gary

The cover art is beautiful. Thank you for your words. I just found this sight so I can't answer your questions, but I see links to other posts from you at the bottom of this page, so at least some have gotten through.
