POETRY 2012

"Daughterless"

I have no daughter to walk down a runway
Or wedding to draw out joyful tears -
Placing securely into another's arms
What's it like to clean a babies nose
Or to make lunch for school hours
While watching a mother's nurturing ways
I'm just a fatherless Idiot
Wishing I had established roots
There'll be no celebration or grand kids -
To remember my name
Or for me to wrap Christmas presents for
I'd even be happy having a boy

I enjoyed reading this and read it over and over. I see the importance of the words to you, but it meant something else to me. Being a single mother of 3 being responsible for my children 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, the endless school lunches and no male presence to watch on... I've never seen it all as poetic. Thank you for your perspective.
