~Human Rights~ "Victories"

The invitation specified this was for International Human Rights Day and it listed a few topics to choose from. I would like to tackle "Victories for Human Rights" first as it is such a short list compared to the "Abuses" part!!

To begin, I think that China's criticism of the U.S.A. last year was a great victory for U.S. recipients of our own IN-justice system. What they spoke was the truth - HOW can the U.N. criticize the Chinese for abuses when the state of California (Gahliefohrnya to my regular readers) has more locked up than the ENTIRE NATION of China? And I agree: when I have to move to China; EVIL-RED-PINKO-COMMIE-BASTARD China to get a FAIR trial, sentence and treatment - THAT is pathetic. So thank you, China - for pointing out the error of our (U.S. of) ways!!

Another victory to assist in the furthering of our society towards normalcy and REHABILITATION, I would like to point out that England had enough compassion and kindness to release the terminally ill Lockerbie bomber back to his family in Libya. The people of the U.S.A. should take a cue from the rest of the world.

Human Rights ~ Abuses FOR 12/10/12

I'll make this quick. Any country that persecutes innocent people, throws them in prison and refuses to release them when they are proven innocent or when they have completed the over-sentence they were given, these people are DENIED their freedom or worse. I will cite 2 examples, which, in my opinion is 2 too many. (Fuck you, Dr. Phil) (And John Walsh) (And CBS13 - KOVR-5nc, CA).

The first:
Bruce Lisker: Mr Lisker was a young, somewhat misguided man when someone (NOT Bruce) broke into Bruce's parents' home and murdered Bruce's mother. Bruce was forced into an "alleged confession" and was sent to prison for 25 years to life. A few years ago, Bruce was found innocent and he was kept in prison because, EVEN IN THE FACE OF TRUTH, the LAPD would not release their "hold". Bruce was finally let go and the LAPD has promised that they will "never stop" trying to put him away for murder again. EVEN THOUGH the evidence shows he is innocent. THAT IS ABUSE. PERIOD.

The second:
Greg B. Watson: In the mid 1980s, Greg Watson was a drug dealer. He was betrayed by another drug dealer and in the ensuing fracas, killed (at point-blank range) the other drug dealer. Now, Mr. Watson was tried, convicted and sent to prison. And rightfully so. However, Mr Watson became a model prisoner, an activist for victims' awareness and help, a published author* , and much more. Mr Watson served all of the time he was sentenced to. His parole has been denied. Many times. The man killed a drug-dealer. In my opinion we should pin a medal on him. He is a good person who should have been let out a long time ago. There are thousands more I could talk about but this is a blog, not a book.

*ALL PROCEEDS from the sales of his book go to the family of the man he killed, by the way.
