The Writer's Hope

I was just starting to get a little discouraged again about writing, and then I opened issue 427 of The Sun and there was my name. It felt really good to have something that I wrote being published in such a prestigious literary magazine. Means a lot to me.

So now, when I get the feeling that no one out there in the world is, or would want, to listen to me: all I have to do is turn to page 3 to see my published name.

Thank you for that, Mr. Sy Safransky (editor and publisher of The Sun). To put my words in front of the 140,000+ eyeballs of your 70,000+ subscribers, I'm honored that so many attentive readers would see the name: Johnny E. Mahaffey.

Wow. I am so gonna keep this writing thing up.
