I wanted to add that you should write about SHU's - exactly how big the cell is and how often you get outside to the, um, yard. When was the last time you saw the grass, sun. Have you walked outside in the last few years?

Folks here on this blog need to know what it's like.

Many have no idea.

You (or someone inside) would have to write that post and send it in here (I cannot write a post, of course - I can just comment). Besides, they need to hear from people who are there - who are enduring this.

The more it gets out - the better. I hope you write back, I'll be following your blog, ok?

I don't know whether you'll get what you want from admin. Frankly, from some of the press they put out I doubt it.

But I do believe that some change is coming. The hearings will help. And there is legal pressure from the courts.

It's a terrible thing that you have endured. I'm really very sorry. I don't know how it has come to this (and we as a society have allowed these prisons to be built)

I've done the few small things that I can (from where I am. I'm on the other side of the country). But I do care very much! I've also posted about the problems with SHU's on the internet (just to spread the word).

Do you have support from your family?

Marcus:

Do you have a religious tradition that's important to you? I ask because if you do - you could write to the temple, church (what-have-you) and they usually have someone who could help serve in this capacity.

I think your idea is great and one that most folks need when they get out. Do you have time left to make a good transition plan?

I don't know much about your state, but most states don't help folks when they get out. So you need to find help. If you write out a blog post of what you are looking for, I'll bet folks here would google some support (transitional housing, if that's what you want, for instance).

Or some addresses of churches, ect. It's a place to start.

Hi Billy,
Schocked to hear of your high temp and transfer to the hospital. I wonder what was wrong, how you are now.
Enjoyed reading your poetry.
Do wish I could attend your Pathfinders Group anniversary program. I'm sure it/you will be terrific in telling heartfelt experiences.

I'm hoping you got your last pkg and find some interesting reading in them. I agreed to take part in a study at the cancer center which requires me to be there and in a PET scan every day next week. finish Mon the 7th. It's testing an unapproved drug and won't help me any but could be of great help to future prostate cancer patients. It's going to be a stressful week, but it's only a week and if it will help.

We're definitely into fall, cold nights, cool days, a few warm days mixed in. Hard to know how to dress.

I'm back on full dosage of my "tired pills" because my PSA has been rising so we'll see if that takes care of that problem. It's really difficult getting up in the morning. Kitty is very insistant or I'd probably sleep till noon, but don't want to get in that habit. Otherwise I'm doing well, feeling good, am certain I'll see the new year. Don't worry about me.

Write when you can. Call if possible. Take care of yourself.
Bookman no longer. :o)
