Your comments were well noted and appreciated. It is my desire to share the insight I've gained over the years with the outside community, and at the same time, hopefully dissolve some of the stereotypes which exist of those in prison. The vast majority of us are neither arch-villains or predators, but rather, ordinary people caught up in extraordinary circumstances. It appears to me that the taxpayers are receiving little in return for their investment; as long as a prisoner behaves, no-one cares if he sits on his behind, watching television all day. While an employer may give an 18 year-old with initiative the opportunity to prove his worth, try finding a job for that same person, coming out of prison at 40, with no skills or education. That is what most every Illinois prisoner faces upon release; no skills, limited education, and quite frankly, marginal chances to make it in today's marketplace. Illinois' recidivism rate is approximately 53% after three years, and I'm surprised it is that low. What segment of society can tolerate that failure rate?

She has a site on internet herself for people having to do with prisoners.
Maybe she allows you to speak to people via this site?
I am glad to meet you in some different way here too!
Succes with the blog! ;-)

I didn't tell you yet, or did I, i have an exibition in a clinic nearby. There are hanging 22 paintings of mine; some oils, some watercolors, and also inkt works.
Some big, others smaller. Abstract and figurative ones. They are hanging for a few months... till I leave for the States! :-D
I hope this time you will be free. Then we will have the nicest time of "our" lifes!!!!
We'll do what our imagination allows us to, of course, George!
I went to places turning in an invitation for my display. Stores, libraries, swmimming pool, church, meeting clubs, etc
I saw the art of James on twitter, tell him!;-)
Can you answer here?????????
I got your letter and will soon respond! Love you, sweetie!
I read we will only hear the 'answer' the 26th of September.. that's so late!......
I will write again to Jessica; she didn't tell me. :-(((
To John I will write things too, so your dad can tell you so too.
Faster thus!
I would like to visit uyou around the 20th of June!!!! Anyway, I will see Leslie and the family here in Belgium in June.
This visit (first!) will be only at your place!-the minimum days. The second visit will be at Leslie's and then, hopefully to
Chicago. let's hope! For more then 2 months.
I am so very sorry for what happened to TTall!! Now he has lost two girl friends...... :-(
Give him my comfort, would you? Thanks.
Maybe there still is a chance for him?
George, like Kelly, you can give me an answer! She gives us answers on her blog! You can do too... that's the purpose!
ps I listen to Swedish cd's. They're close to my own Flemish! :-o
George, I hope you have succes with the blog problem you had.
sweet, sweeter, sweetest kisses from Rita! xxx
I miss your response. I wonder if you read this? Mom and me came back yesterday from our coast. We rented for 3 days a nice studio.
we even met a niece, liana, and her husband there! What a coincidence!
Say hi to TTall! Wonder how he is doing?
I'll write once more to Carina and see if she responds.
George, i'm flying to America the 18th of June. I can stay at Gwens till the end of that month. They travel to Sweden and france. Then i've to change hotels. I will leave on the 10th of July.
Would you please send me the address where to write to to ask for extended visits perhaps??
Thanks and sweet kisses from Rita x
Carina doesn't respond.. i don't know why??
Well, so be it.
I've sad news her, George.... Clementine died on the 9th of May. Once and a while i still cry.
Olaf,- Clementine and he came on a visit at my apartment to drink a tea one day- and me spoke to assist to her funeral. She asked only to put one rose on her tumb. That's what the two of us will do. Unless they straw her ashes in the fields? They do that here if they haven't relatives.
Anyway, if Malcon (the sun of her latest husband (a pilot; they weren't married though), only could call me!?
I told them in the home, to write my phone nr down, next to Malcon's.
Otherwise we won't know where the funeral is at.
But she is kept in my heart... she was as a second mom for me. ;-) She always asked: How is George doing!? She would pray that the 2 of us would finally come together, nice of her, eh.
I felt the void yesterday on mom's day.:-(
George, write soon the address to me to ask
the extension for the visits.
Even better: ask John to write it to me!!
love you, take very well care of yourself!
all my love, Rita xxx
the ,
I only can hope you're doing fine!;-))))
In the meantime my letter for extended visits are sent a time ago. They''ll let me know at Gwen's! Wonder? 6hrs is a long time to sit, eh!! I can see us sitting there again, Georgie! ;-)
Till know I haven't received letters from you for a month and more! What happened? I told your dad. :-o So, I do not know your answer on me coming to America...
As I was writing (hope you got my letters!)I'm visiting you not too late (around 10 or 11 o'clock, depending if I get the 6 hrs?) on the 21st of June, ok? Be there!
As for now I focus today on my writings for the jury of the writing course! Still a lot to do! They have to be in the 6th of June.
Mom shortened my Argentinian curtains (yellow) and I still have to hang them in the kitchen, for the coming summer...; well, it's still fresh here for the time of year!!
Is the weather warm there?
If you write, you can do so to Gwen, ok? I fly on the 18th of June. With US Airways. I stay one night in Chicago and take the train to Galesburg on the 19th.
Big news here! Most probably Philip was accepted in Sweden? For 4 yrs that would be. So mom also can visit them! She is glad!
I am too! ;-) Leslie thinks of having a 3rd child! Leslie told mom she is an adventurer... from whom she does have this?? mmm...
Mom has a cruise in sight for August; to Scotland, Sweden, and Chetland (?) Islands. Her surgery will follow after the voyage. :-)))
I got a book on the Baltic countries, George. For free, with the A-card. I will send it to you! It's in English. For as we go! ;-)
Jessica would see why you couldn't write me letters? She is waiting for the approvement for your future job at your father's ex-employer.
How is TTall doing actually? Give him a hug while you get several hugs from me now! xxx for my sweetie, from Rita
