Hello!
From
Matthew Jankowicz

I'd like to tell you about how our yards are separated. We have Level I, II, III, and IV yards.

Level I yards are for low-level offenders, inmates that have minor drug charges and petty crimes. Usually, they will stay in prison for a few months to a couple of years. They can work off prison grounds doing fire clearing, trash pickup, landscaping, etc. They have little supervision. The Level I yard only has a simple fence surrounding it. Inmates on a Level I yard could easily escape, but most don't. They also live in dorm settings, not cells. They also have 0-18 points.

Level II yards can have all types of inmates, from short-timers to lifers. They have 19-27 points. They don't live in cells but in dorm settings or a gym, containing sometimes over 200 inmates. They live like sardines in mostly three tier bunk beds. Open showers and toilets, no privacy. A lot of stealing and fights. This living arrangement is not as nice as cell living.

Level III yards contain inmates with harsher crimes and have 28-51 points. They also contain Level II inmates that live in a gym or e-bunks (in bundles with cells). E-bunks are extra bunks in the day room of cell blocks. Most Level III yard inmates live in two-man cells. There are a lot of lifers on these yards. Level III and Level IV yards have triple fences surrounding the prison, including an electric fence which can kill you if you touch it.

Level IV yards contain the worst inmates with the worst crimes, and a lot of time. Most of these inmates are lifers. They have over 52 points. There is a lot of violence on these yards, even on SNY yards. They have solid walls around their yard.

Well, that's all for now. Feel free to make comments or write me. Thanks. :)
