Subject: "The Hoop Suck"
Well, I gave this new contraption a try, and so far I've lost a towel, washcloth & 2 pair sock. The "sliding lock" mechanism does not work. We're being told to tie a knot behind it to make it work. This is a defective product which has to be tweaked to work. What kind of crap is this !!!!! A problem they'll face with this "tweaking" is the prisoners who are physically & mentally incapable of tying a knot. Our complaints seems to fall on deaf ears once again, as the DOC is determined to make this "Hoop" a reality.
The response I continue to receive is that it works for the military. I'd like to see this for myself, because I don't believe they're provided with the same contraption being shoved down our throats.
Items lost has not, and will not, be reimbursed because they state that it should have been marked with our ID number. So the unmarked clothing goes into a pile where the parties must rummage through for their missing articles -- which is like a game of "Russian Roulette". There's been bloody articles found in the sorting, which seems to have belong to a few unkempt prisoners who were a little too friendly with a banana. I also run the risk of retrieving a diseased-ridden article of clothing lost by one of our many sick prisoners. So to avoid these hazards I've taken to washing my clothes out by hand, and I'm not the only one. As I pass by my neighbors cells, I see one after the other at their sinks armed with a bar of soap. Ten years ago, we'd be armed with a pen writing letters & grievances in protest of this contraption. No one would turn in their laundry for cleaning. Every morning we'd toss out "The Hoop" empty. I miss those days where we worked together to voice our disapproval. We'd be frustrate the system, instead of letting the system frustrate us.
