What If?

For whatever reason you don't believe,
I just want you to imagine "what if?"
This same gift that you refuse to receive
could keep you from falling over a cliff.

Not just off the side of a mountain
but into a lake of brimstone and fire
with no way out, and no way of moving
from an eternal funeral pyre.

Where the pain of the flame will not consume
and the darkness was a constant torment
and the stench of burnt flesh, sulfur's flame
was just a part of the punishment.

The bitter tears and gnashing of teeth
all of your pleading and belated prayers
was only met with silence, no relief
That Hell was real, and you were there.

To add to your anguish and agony
was the knowledge that you had a choice
But now your eternal testimony
would be that you'd listened to the wrong voice.

When a million lifetimes had come and past
"eternity" would be only beginning
and each new day would be like the last
another day to pay for sinning.

The greatest sin that you'll ever make
would be denying the name of Jesus
You're under a curse, make no mistake,
and it's only God's grace that frees us!

I was once like you, sitting on the fence,
thinking I still had plenty of time
until I considered the consequence
which is why I've written this little rhyme.

Think it's a game if you want to
but, Brother, you can take it from me
it will come back to haunt you
and you'll regret it for eternity.

I'm not saying anything you haven't heard
and you know, deep down, that it's true
there's a reason you're hearing this word
the Holy Spirit is reaching out to you!

But this may be your final warning.
You know He's coming like a thief in the night
Now's not the time for you to be scorning
what you knew in your heart is right.

Is that a chance you're willing to take?
Risk being cast into a lake of fire?
With eternity to pay for-the grave mistake
of doubting the word of the Messiah.
