The Forum for Understanding Prisons Needs Help Getting Old Law Prisoners Released on Parole
The Forum For Understanding Prisons (FFUP) is a Wisconsin-based prisoner advocacy organisation which is run by Peg Swan. She has spent years and countless hours working on behalf of prisoners and speaking out against some of the worst excesses of Wisconsin's prison system. In one of her recent newsletters she asked for the following help:
"Do you have a family member or friend that could spend a few minutes a week helping us on our Facebook page or web? This is all set up, is easy to do - just needs someone with internet and moderate skills."
"We need help with calling churches, justice and service organizations and others. These outfits need to be told of our campaign and asked to put the campaign materials out. We have found that especially in this day of e-mails, texting and super busyness, personal contact is necessary to spur action".

By the way, the above request for help is related to the WISDOM campaign to force the parole commission to give serious consideration to old law prisoners and release those wo no longer pose a risk to anyone. The more help we get, the greater our chances are of getting all the old men and women who are currently being warehoused, released on parole.

My name is Carole. I am a friend of Ron Schilling, who I met through Don Johnson(Dj) who shared the same prison with Ron for many years. Not sure if you know Dj or not, Ron can tell you who he is, maybe you do. Ron wrote to me and mentioned you when I sent him a post you had done on racism. He said you and he go way back. I am also trying to help with Peg to get Ron a fair shake. I am writing to you to let you know 2 things. first, Ron said your behind on writing, haha! the last letter he got from you was in March. the second thing I wanted to say was, I enjoy your posts on here very much. You as well deserve a fair shake. I do not know if Peg is helping you out or not. I also do not know how this site works, or how long it will take you to get this. What I do know is, I am keeping you in my prayers. Hoping one day the lord will give you the fair shake you deserve.

I JUST now ( Sunday Feb. 21st 2016) got your reply from October. While this site is a great tool for you all, on this end it takes us a long time to hear back. I could deliver a msg by carrier pigeon, or walk it to where you are, and you would get it faster. haha! Saw Ron last month I think it was. He seems to be holding up ok, considering where he is. We are working on a parole plan for him. The way we have everything set up and said, it's damn near a fool proof plan, yet i think they will find away to keep him. No matter who you write to, be it the higher ups in Madison or advocates, it's hard to get you guys out. Just when you think there is a chance, they pull the bullshit card out and nit pick at everything, like with Ron they bring up an old disaplinary about having too many envelopes. He had like 5 over. Now that he has a hearing in april, they are looking for more crap. I think it's because he has a plan outside that you can't punch a hole through, so they wanna get him on little crap. Because you know, 5 envelopes extra on the inside could be a threat on the outside. Maybe that's a threat to society?! The system is a sham and you and Ron are trapped in the middle of all of it.I read so many blogs on here and the defers get longer and longer. Always saying " not enough sufficent time served" Explain "sufficent" enough time. for Ron apparently 40 yrs is still not enough. I hope that changes in april. We faxed everyone who may have something to do with his hearing, the parole plan we have for him. They got so tired of us, they sent us a letter stating they recieved everything and will put it in his file. That was probably to shut us up. Guess we will see in april.
I enjoy your blogs, they are full of information that people need to know. Don't stop blogging, there are still people who need a nudge to get their heads out of the clouds and see the reality for which it is.
