A Beautiful Weekend
We were blessed in Stanley last weekend (Nov. 7-8) with record-breaking warm weather. Saturday hit 72°F and Sunday reached 70°F. I made it a point to go outside to soak up some of that warm, wonderful sun. It was not a hot, baking sun like you'd experience at the height of summer, but warm and encouraging just the same. There I was in the gym shorts with my shirt off, working out in the exercise area and loving it.
This far north in November is usually a month for icy rain, snow, and cloudy days. This last few days of balmy bliss is something to be savored and appreciated. I'll be looking back on this weather in the coming months when I go outside wearing every layer of clothing I can manage to put on. It will be freezing temperatures, 30 mile-per-hour winds, and a wind chill nobody wants to be caught in.
I thank God for the blessings he brings me, both large and small. This is one small blessing that I will cherish for months to come. When the cold wind blows and all I can see is snow covering the ground, I'll remember how delightful it was to spend the first weekend in November exercising shirtless outside.
