The Invisible Black Media

"Keeping the Masses Ignorant and Uninformed in the 21st Century"

I have to ask: Is it by design or default that the major Black media outlets have become practically invisible when it comes to reporting on the secret court hearings being conducted in the trial of Dylann Stormroof, the avowed White supremacist responsible for the mass murders of Rev. Clementa Pinckney, Cynthia Hurd, Ethel Lance, Tywanza Sanders, Myra Thompson, Rev. Sharonda Coloman Singleton, Rev. Daniel Simmons, Sr., Susie Jackson, and Rev. Depayne Middletone, doctor at Mother Emmanuel African American Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina?

Conduct a search of any of the biggest Black media companies and you will find more stories about LeBron James jump shots, etc., Kim and Kayne's madness, plus other junk news than you'll find about the Charleston Massacre.

You'll discover virtually the same results if you are searching for news on the trial of the White policeman who executed the unarmed brother Walter Scott as he ran away from his killer. The sadder reality is that these are but a couple of many examples today's "invisible Black media."

It is up to ordinary people like you and I, and grassroot leaders to continuously discover and disseminate unreported and under-reported or completely censored stories that have a direct and indirect impact on our lives and the Black communities across this nation.

When stories like the Charleston Massacre trial and killer cop trials are given limited to no coverage by the White corporate media and the invisible Black media, we must tackle this crisis by using every available resource we have to combat the problem so our communities aren't left uninformed and misguided. It matters NOT where we find ourselves at this moment. We must all do our part as best as we can to uplift and empower our Black communities through the exchange of meaningful news stories and information that educates. This is why we need more newspapers such as the Burning Spear and the San Francisco Bay View.

Dear friends,

My sincerest hopes are that all of you at BTB and you families enjoy a safe and wonderful holiday season. I know that you can never have it enough, but thank you all so very much for everything you do to provide a medium where the voice of the voiceless can be heard.

Many special blessings to each of you.

Most respectfully,
Lakeith Amir-Sharif
