Meet Gillis

So I got a new cellmate. He moved in on December 2. His name is Gillis. He's black, snores a lot, weighs 70 lbs., is just over 2 feet tall, and loves to eat.

As you probably know, I have been in the NEADS dog program since March. For more information, check it out at www.NEADS.org but basically, we train service dogs. It took a little longer than I had hoped, but I finally got my own dog.

Gillis is a black lab who turned 1 on December 23. He had been at another institution getting trained. Some kind of nonsense occurred which I won't get into, but the point is he got moved out of there and in with me. He came to me fairly well-trained. He's super smart and his demeanor is perfect for a service dog. As long as I work hard and there are no medical issues, there should really be no way that he doesn't graduate the program. It's a lot of work but fun and rewarding. We are working on perfecting all of his basic commands and getting him to stay with them. In the meantime, I am teaching him a lot of cool new stuff. I'll keep you updated.

Until next time...
