Broken Chains
Today you've earned something much, much more
Than the diploma you receive for your shelf.
You've broken some chains, and opened a door,
Simply because - you believed in yourself.
You've proven that you were smart enough,
To set a goal, and then work to reach it.
You didn't quit when the going got tough,
That was your strength - no one could teach it.
That strength was always inside of you -
But in the past, perhaps misdirected.
I pray from now on it will carry you,
Beyond the walls that were once erected.
Through that open door, beyond the razor wire,
That once limited your mobility -
Dare to keep dreaming, and reaching higher,
Only you can limit your mobility.

Could someone please send me information about Sen. Webb D. W. VA and the progress being made by his "Blue Ribbon Panel" that is supposedly doing a top to bottom review of the nation's prison system? (With an eye toward reform).
Normally, a posted "comment" to Between the Bars would be forwarded to me here at Century (or at least that is how the project was supposed to work). However, until I co-ordinate something with the mailroom here, I am not receiving my "posted comments" - I don't even know if there are any posted comments. :D
So - rather than "posting" info about Senator Webb's "Blue Ribbon Panel", perhaps someone could mail me the information here at Century.
A "contact person" at the Senator's office would also be a blessing - I want to send the Senator my essay entitled "View From the Far Side of the Digital Divide". :D
Thanks!
Gary
