Harold Camping

Well, the 21st of May has come and gone. My brothers and I in Christ are still here. I do not know how many were truly fooled by this man's irrational conviction and now wish to undo the decisions that they made based on their trust in Mr. Camping. It really doesn't matter because we, who truly have placed our trust in Christ, should not be swayed by the tickling of our ears or the pursuit of the things of this world.

What we should be doing is live our lives so that others are drawn to Christ through us, not because of us but because of the love of God that radiates through us allowing us to indeed be the salt of the Earth. Yes, Christ has promised to return for us and told us that, while we can be of the season, we will not know the day or the hour. We need to be prepared for His return whenever it occurs and be telling others the way to be ready. I never saw a news clip that showed anyone they were ready for their faith was in the Son of God who paid the price so we could be redeemed. What a shame.

Just think about all of the major calamities that have occurred since the first of this year. Earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, tornadoes, hail the size of baseballs have all happened and left many asking God why. I do not wish to make any inference that these were any form of judgment for we live in a decaying world in which we suffer the effects of the decay. I do however wish to compare to the similar events highlighted in the Old Testament which were often a form of judgment. In all of them, the concluding statement was made: "and they shall know that I am the Lord."

So while our devastation this year can be overwhelming to our emotional selves, the end result is that many of will finally turn to God and truly seek His guidance. The only reason that any of us are still here is that God is patient not willing that any should perish. His ultimate desire is for us to repent, come into a personal relationships through His son, Jesus Christ, and dwell in His presence forever.
