Phxfinn,

Hope the move went well. Send a snail-mail when you get settled. Since you're in the neighborhood, maybe we can set up a visit someday. I'd love to meet you and "A" finally.

I have not received any info from those "writing" websites yet, but you and L Cpl Turner are the first I've heard from. Maybe no one else knows it's there? Thanks for the help.

L Cpl Turner,

Great to hear from you, Devil Dog! If you end up in Jacksonville, NC, keep me updated so I can visit. One of these days I'm planning to show the kids what a Marine Corps F.M.F. Base is really all about. Give 'em the full tour and old war stories. Of course, my travel plans are on hold for a bit. A bit?! How ironic. A "BIT" is what is commonly used to describe a period of time spent in prison. Like a guy saying, "this is my third bit". A "bit" is used whether it's 2 months, or 3 years, or 20 years. I wonder if that definition is included in Websters?

It's now Thanksgiving and I hope you're having a great holiday. Twice a year we have a meal that is filling and memorable. Thanksgiving and Christmas. It's just sad that 50% of the guys in here have no understanding about the meaning behind the extra food. A lot of us are grateful, though. The best part was that the turkey and stuffing was cooked perfectly. They even threw in pineapple chunks with the normally plain red colored jello. It's probably cherry or strawberry jello, but it's usually spread so thin in the mix you can't tell what flavor it is. The real treat, though, was the yams, which is a rarity, and they were fantastic.

Thanks for a great recommendation letter. It was included as part of my petition. But however the state views it, I am honored and will keep this letter to show my children someday. That they may know I was a man of honor. Even though I made this terrible mistake in life, it is not what defines my life or who I am as a man and Marine. Thanks again, Brother. I'm looking forward to one day meet, or at least call, all the Marines we served alongside.

"Semper Fi" A.T.!

Hi David,
It took some time to settle in, and the cold weather leaves something to be desired. Things have been rather crazy, I've started about half a dozen letters to you and not finished one! When J and M visited, they suggested I just do the same as you- sending the multiple-entry letter, even if some of it is old news. :) I also have had a ton of reading to do for personal reasons and didn't get a chance to look into anything for you, so my apologies for that (I was going to help my mom search ads for apartments but I didn't get to that either). And on that note, she moved last week to a new place (same town), so if you're writing to her, you may want to wait until you have the new address. I'll see if my mom or myself can send it to you.

Too bad there isn't a way to email you and have them print and give it to you like they do here (without being public of course)! It's far easier to post a quick message and hit send than to write, print, address, stamp, and walk to the mailbox! Haha, maybe technology has made me lazy in that regard.

As J and M told you, I am trying to arrange for my mom and I to come visit, hopefully she will come in April or May - I will send you a letter as soon as we have a date arranged. If you don't have us on the list please let me know.

Take care. I am sending good thoughts your way regarding the governor's decision.
