Does Incarceration Work? November 25th 2012

I want you all to think for a moment before you answer this question.

Let me give you my theory!

Prison is not designed to rehabilitate or reform a prisoner. It is not meant to reduce crime. The reality is that prisons are the fastest growing industry in this country. The state gets rich off the slave labor of prisoners. So they want prisoners to remain in prisons or if by chance released, they hope those prisoners return to criminal activity so they in turn can return to prison. It's a vicious cycle and the harsh treatment of prisoners by the prison administration, courts, etc.

While detained inmates use illegal drugs, marijuana, cocaine, smoking cigarettes, chewing dip and the list goes on. Which is what they did out in society. Betting on basketball and football games every weekend. Fighting one another verbally, physically inside here daily.

Now with all this being said, incarceration is definitely not the answer. So what is, people?

I'm open for any comments or opinions.
