Hi. Good to hear from you. I suppose there are some wars that are just but from what I can see, most of the "wars" fought by the United States have very little to do with justice and a lot to do with power and control.

The lies told by then-President Bush to justify invading Iraq were preposterous and I still can't understand why so many Americans chose to believe him. And in Afghanistan, Bush could have gotten bin Laden and his followers if he would have sent in our troops instead of paying local warlords to do it for him. The result was bin Laden got away which gave Bush justification to invade Afghanistan. In both instances, the U.S. should never have gotten mired down in a protracted ground war that cost us hundreds of billions of dollars and accomplished little or nothing.

I don't think there is enough emphasis on teaching history in our U.S. schools because our country keeps repeating the same errors over and over. Right now, we are refighting the domestic battles that were fought in the 1930s when social security was created. I guess we'll never learn...
