SEEING THRU DA MIRROR
I was condemned for a decision
Made in the ignorance of youth,
And in the heart of suffering,
Discovered the immensity of truth.
While wallowing in self-pity
I learned struggle is ordained
Because as we travel through life
We all encounter pain.
But our responses to stimuli
Aren't universal.
Since we're all individuals,
The lessons we have to learn are personal.
We're each tested in our areas of weakness,
Try running, and your problems will remain,
But your tolerance for it heightens
Depending on the change.
You can't succumb to apathy.
Know that with every difficulty there is relief.
Though you may not recognize it,
Adversity is the altar of peace.
It is the unavoidable mirror,
But you determine its reflection;
Somehow discovering your true essence
Often comes after your deepest dejection.
And nothing external can ever fill
A void which stems from within,
But when you're a puzzle to yourself
Who you are is often determined by the perceptions of friends.
But if beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder,
Then why leave your beauty to chance?
Especially since the beauty that truly matters
Isn't perceived at a glance.
If you water the seed of self-love
You'll harvest its crops;
Eventually getting to the point
Where no obstacle could make you stop.
Happiness is relative,
Conditioned responses often control how you feel,
But you can find joy in a tragedy
By exercising the strength to free your will.
You can be broke, as long as you don't break
And buy victory on lay-away.
It's affordable, the cost is faith.
Just make your payments each day you awake!
