Michael, I applaud you for speaking up about this issue. GTL seems to me like a huge scam. My husband is in county jail, and we've spent a ton of family money talking to each other. It's disturbing that a big company would exploit the very human desire to hear a loved one's voice, and during a time when money for legal fees, etc. is so crucial. You rock for speaking up. Thank you for providing an address and an agency that I can write to and voice my complaint.
You seem like a person who has taken a very difficult situation and tried to find opportunity in it. Congratulations on your acceptance to college! You're a great model for your children.
The concept of 'entertaining the devil' is quite true, since so many people believe they are under attack from the devil; yet, this is one of the biggest lies. People who are unable to harness the Spirit within them (or never had it), are simply in bondage to their nature. The devil has them right where he wants them, and they beg him to come in and help them with all their needs for sex, drunkenness, power, greed and other sins. It makes me sad; in a season where there is high level financial, employment and relational stress for 'good' family people in all parts of our country, they desparately seek an anaesthetic to take the pain away, and have begged the devil to come to their rescue.
Be strong Christian brothers and sisters! Never forget: Greater is He who is in us, than the Prince of the Air and all of his associates put together. God help us!!
As I read your poem, the energy I feel so reminds me of men and women I've come to know in Central Prison, in the shelter, or in the hospital over two decades. They have been released from their bondage, not from their trial, and their lives are inspiring.
Oswald Chambers tells us that God doesn't give us trials to teach us anything, but to help us unlearn a lifetime of bad habits and to simlify our lives. The endpoint; the mind of a child who can think of nothing but God.
As we go thru our trials, we can take one of two paths: A path in Christ's light; marked by hope, joy, love, purpose and freedom. The alternate path is in darkness; lives here are marked by hopelessness, anger despair, self-centeredness, fear and bondage. Irrespective of our situation each of us is free to choose the dark or the light; whether we live in opulence and comfort, or in abject poverty, addiction, incarceration, or chronic illness.
Those who walk in the light, with a sense of hope and purpose, don't endure or cope with adversity, but find in it a depth of joy and peace. This mighty power is from God, and it compels the lost from the dark into the light. Let's not go to war with our trials, using our shallow power as a weapon, or fast-forward thru them in search of happiness. Rather, embrace them as a mission field; an appointment for service from God for God.

It has been awhile since I have been here "Between the Bars"...so MUCH FUN reading your ramblings, ravings and reviews. With your excellent artistic and writing abilities I have complete faith that a "coffee table book" is in our future.
