The point that you raise about spending millions to house non-violent incarcerated peoples whilst people starve and freeze on the streets does strike me as an odd thing for the government to do. I am pro-rehabilitation rather than incarceration, understanding that some prison time is necessary but many cases need help other than simply prison time. I believe strongly that the world as we know it is changing, just watch the news and see the protests around the world, the grievances of the people and it is obvious. Governments need to respond to that and I feel that a reassessment of the penal system is part of that. Thanks for writing, it's very interesting to hear your thoughts.
Yes, Brandon, your photo of you and your dad appears on your blogging site along with your explanation of the delay in blogging. You are both looking good, you especially leaning back with a smile. I feel that your self-effacing serves the conversation, rather than reflect your brain power for a lack of computer skills. Your humility and humor are refreshing. My guy-type. BTW, the original term weblog, for writing a log of ideas, experiences, etc., on the internet, was shortened through use to "blog". You had asked somewhere. And, some nice person transcribed your reply to me! And you have been so good to have written as a friend.. What is "wpip"?
I dig your posts. I'm interested in reading a longer piece on insanity in prison (although I agree that in general, longer pieces on blogs tend to get overlooked). Hoping to keep up with things you post in the future, and looking forward to reading a longer piece someday.
Thanks for writing and getting your words out there. I can't stress enough how important it is to hear your voice.
No one uses pagers anymore. (Maybe some really old men somewhere, but not really.) Everyone has cell phones (and most people have iPhones or iPads) so pagers just aren't necessary.
People really do watch Jersey Shore. Believe it or not, it's popular. Even people who watch it understand how dumb it is, but something about it is appealing to a lot of people. My guess is that it's simple, requires no thought on the part of the audience, and makes people feel better about their own lives. But trust me, you're not missing anything.
Blu-ray is just a new form of DVD. It's supposed to be more high-definition, so it has better picture quality. The discs look the same, but they won't play on a regular DVD player. You need to have a special blu-ray player. However, most people don't buy or rent DVDs anymore, anyway. Most people use companies like NetFlix to have movies delivered in the mail, or they just download movies right to a computer or iPad.
Twitter is a website where people can make an account and then post status updates that are under 140 characters. These updates are called "tweets." You can tag other people and locations in tweets, so you could tweet about going out to dinner and then tag the restaurant and the people you're with. You can also tweet photos and links to other websites.
I can't answer much about popular clothes or videos -- I guess I'm a little out of touch, too. And I don't know anything about the current price of cigarettes, but I can tell you that pay phones barely exist anymore. Like I said, everyone has a cell phone. It's really hard to find a pay phone these days if you're looking for one.
Ask more questions if you think of them! Happy to keep you updated on the world out here.
Don't even stop writing poetry. It is such a fantastic outlet for dreams and frustrations, and gives all of us such pleasure to read your words. I hope you find as much joy in writing as we do in reading.

The last line of this poem was especially nice.
