I agree whole heartedly! We tell people "you do the crime, you do the time"... and justly so. But the part that people don't see is when bad people are put in positions of power, they abuse the very people that are supposed to come out of their "time out" as rehabilitated citizens. Almost anyone with a diploma can become a corrections officer. And the uniform comes with a level of respect that is seldom earned. In my opinion, psychological abuse if one of the most damaging forms of abuse... because it's as invisible as it is impacting and lasting. I don't know what the answer is, but educating the public about these cruelties is certainly a good starting point. Thank you for writing!

fantastic story. It kept me hooked through to the end. I could picture the town and the fish! Writing has always been such a huge coping mechanism for me to deal with my emotions and mental health issues. It sounds like you're putting in the hard work to figure out what makes you tick. Keep going man! You'll do great!

Wow! this is beautiful!!! It always amazes me what people can do with their abilities if just given the time and opportunity. I never knew I could write as well as I could until I did jail time. Keep exploring your talents!!

Dad

Our Lord and Savior continues to shine His light onto me and I pray that He does the same for you. It’s great hearing from you Dad. I’m going to step up and send you something written in the mail. I’m going to do better as a son, and as a person, especially going into 2019. I guess I just needed some time to sort out some things out in my life. Now, I’m ready and wiiling, to have open lines of communication between us, Dad. Thank you so much for the message and connecting with me through your writing. Glory be to God indeed!

P.S.: I’m getting confused by seeing all variations of our last name. Is it Field with an S or without? :)

Honestly I wish you were closer. I would come see you. As it is I would have to drive 12 hours one way. I never thought you were a bad person just a god awful husband and you forgot to be a dad while chasing your whores. You were young and stupid in that way.
