I am a high school English teacher and my seniors are writing argumentative pieces regarding the American prison system. I have been searching for poems about the lives of prisoners and came across this site. I wanted to let you know that I think your writing emotionally connects to the reader and that my seniors will be reading your poem in English class. The first line "Jaywalk razors" really caught my attention and I love the metaphor. Nice work and keep it up!
Tim, What I wouldn't give to attend one of these services, maybe someday soon I will be able to. Its so wonderful to know that even though you are behind bars, there is time for God and for families to be able to be with their loved ones! God bless you for all you are doing there! Lynette
Tim, Thanks for writing this, it has to be seen and the people need to know where their tax dollars are going. Maybe they should hire teachers to come in and help the inmates? Help them so when they are released they will have some education to help them get a job, also hire some counselors for those who need help. You are correct, money is being wasted. Lynette
Thanks for writing! I finished the transcription for your post. I hope your new spot is working out for you, and I hope your cellmate is keeping it clean;) Congrats on your self-promotion to 'Chess Master'...hang on to that title and kick some butt!! Stay strong!
Thanks for writing! I finished the transcription for your post. I definitely have your back! Usher has a great team this season, so he has a good shot at winning. I LOVE his coaching techniques!! (And his dimples!) If he were singing for the competition, he'd definitely win, but I guess it's up to the contestants on his team to pull through! Stay Strong!
The poem about your daughter was beautifully written:) You've found such a creative way to support your children while in prison. Your words, your love, and your example of making the best of a negative situation, are all such strong support beams. Stay Strong!
Thanks for writing! I finished the transcription for your post. You're very creative, LeVar. I'd like to help you get your story out by sharing some of your pieces with kids at the school where I volunteer. And I know that when you are on the other side of the bars, you'll be reaching out and sharing your story to help prevent kids from making the same mistakes. Stay Strong!
Thanks for writing! I finished the transcription for your post. I'm happy to know that your situation isn't forever because you seem very insightful and eager to change your lifestyle. Stay strong!
