Hi Heather I can only try and uplift you , not to loose focus, hang in there , and know one thing, you are not alone, with Christ on your side you can do it!!!! I used to stay in Florida for just over 4 years , then returned back to South Africa. While I was in Florida I used to do prison ministry, I went to Broward count in Ford Laderdale to the one Jail facility to see woman there. Maybe, I can not do much for you but I can offer you my friendship and daily intercede for you by our heavenly Father! Keep well , hope you get this letter, may God just bless you and daily give you the peace and joy, faith and strength to hold on and push through, YOU WILL MAKE IT !!! Hannah.
Hi Robert I did read some of your posts on your blog. At first let me introduce myself to you. I used to be in America, Florid for over four years. But we went back to South Africa. Stayed in Delray Beach , wonderful and beautiful , but the heat was horrible. Sorry for poor grammar and spelling, my native language are South African. And yes, I am also a child of the most High God, daily I try to live my life for His glory. While I was in America I used to do prison ministry, I went to one of the jails in Broward county, in Ford Lordardale. I did contact visits in the woman jail facility for only one year. That time I was the only one in my church to go to the incarcerated woman. That was the passion and joy of my heart, just to go to them and share the word and love of God, to give them hope, not to condemn them because of their crime. So yes Robert me as God's child can not judge or condemn you of your crime, even if it was murder, I rather be their to pray with you for God's grace and compassion for you to receive mercy and favor , from God and men, the worldly system. So yes Robert even if I can not do something in deeds and in actions, but one thing I can do .... and that is to pray and intercede for you daily by the holy throne of our heavenly Father!!!!! He is the one that will cary you daily, sustain you and give you everyday the faith, strength and power to get up and fight for what is right , to give His name the glory!!!!! Only by the power of God the death penalty can be demolished!! I hope and pray you will have a great and wonderful and blessed day !!! God bless! All my greetings here out of South Africa, Hannah.
YES! I got the letter in the hotel and I was so pleased!! You should have had mine by now?
Know what? George too loves shopping!!! You are extraordinary men! Tell Rita said so! :-))) I am not such a shopper, but if I have men surrounding me and liking to shop, well... at any event I would be excited too... I guess??
I would prefer to go hiking instead. George and me dream sometimes what we would all do together? There is just no ending to that list!!!
Too bad for that beautifull crocheted work, Kelly. If you need a helping hand and a prisoner likes to write you and she doesn't send the mail, or way too late, I am willing to receive the letters and mail them to you. Just tell me, ok?
Here a saying for you: 'Do not let your today be stolen by an unchangeable past and an indefinite future' Steve Maraboli
Kelly, i wondered... why are there few men you can talk and relate to? Is it mainly because you are gay? George's prefered magazine was also Vanity Fair!:-) He stopped having them, becaise he missed one and told them- they never even answered! He LOVES fashion!!!! He tells me he is vain. Is he? Yes, he is. But a nice way of being vain. -smile-
The good news is: he has another PB in August!! A friend of his (a few yrs younger then him) had a no for PB and would have to come back in THREE yrs! :-(((
On the 21st of January our oldest daughter Elke will give birth to their first child!!! It is quite heavy and lies not in the good way, so a caesarian will bring the baby on earth. I'm quite excited!
I guess it will be a baby boy and I believe I know the name they'll give? :-o
i read your letter today, on the 19th of January. What happened you had an eye problem? Tell me also in short what the reason was you were in segregation, Kelly? A prisoner Cuhua, ever told me it was quiet in there, because he was fed up with the constantly noise where he usually was at!
Yes I'm back, from CA at my daughter's and the 2 kids! I had a most lovely staying there and I knew again what a grandmother felt like! :-)) They grew! And they are energetic kids with a lot of humor too. We did outings and several activities together. My daughter has a site for free on internet, where she teaches you Dutch in a fun way; Dutch that stick! She has many students in America as well as in Europe! If Little Pilgrim likes to have the site, just give me a sign, ok?
Then I flew to Illinois, Chicago (have you been there Kelly?), slept one night in an hotel and the next day I took the Amtrak(3 hrs)to Galesburg, where George is at.
What a nice reunion we had!!It feels as if I live every day with him.;-) I will give him your greetings and the energy, Kelly. I am sure you would be good friends with him. I had the 6 hrs visit! And we had 12 days of those! He is working to reduce those vending machine prices! They ARE expensive!!!! All he can do is try at least.
In the visiting room -(those people were visiting Colin; he was transfered just for a few days)- I made new friends. I spoke with them at our hotel. Exactly on Christmas Day. On a holliday I didn't do any visits, because then I got only 4 hours.
The parents of 38-yr old Colin had listened to our conversation and noticed George was such an animated and charming man. Which I agree, haha. It proved later that Colin likes politics, is also a runner and also plays the guitar as George. He was a painter just as me too! Therefore Sallie and Philip will stay in contact with me. In 2 yrs he will be free and the he will go on George's blog. While in CA it was warm, till 4pm when it cools off and in Illinois it was cold!!! Won't go there anymore in winter time!
Kelly, what do you mean with O Neida? Yes, I defenitely see the Cherokee blood! :-)) Did you write Latino?? I saw something Indian from India. Can you see something in my face from my possible roots, Kelly? Wonder.
lmao that is awesome i like the way you think its quite entertaining, But a drone can be shot down by a simple shotgun. so after spending millions of dollars; You would be wasting it if someone like me were to see it around. I'm from texas we don't take shit lightly like that lol :) -patricia
If you have family that can be a support - a visiting resource - that might be enough. She will receive some support after she turns 18. In most states - If she is in school and wants to take college classes, for instance, she will get support. She will also get support if she wants to pursue a non degree program (you know, hair cutting). Or even community college.
Kids her age need folks to send cards and call. You may not have a relative who will take her in, but there might be someone who will fulfill that role.
As for not contacting you - she will be able to contact you directly, if she wants to. Kids are resourceful and she is nearly 18. You have this blog, for instance.
I don't know what she wants, at this point. But - for most teens, writing letters is hard. And she will be struggling with what happened in her life - and yours (why you went to prison is hard news and she has friends).
I wouldn't expect anything to her. I would tell her social worker that you would like to commit to writing every two weeks or once a month. Then send a short note. Just a simple one - no heavy emotional stuff. Tell her a funny story about your life - or talk about the weather. Just a page. Maybe a quote from someone that you like.
Keep in mind everything that you write here is easily (VERY easily) findable on the internet - it pops up with your name. So it will be read by everyone in the system, too. GAL and social worker.
All parents worry about 18 year olds. Remember that. There only so much ANY parent can do. I know if feels worse for you, but nothing in life is really all that different.
