The Company You Keep!...
To start I wish to make it clear that I don't know who the author of the following piece is. It was given to me by a close friend as we like to share what we call "jewels" with each other! Jewels in this sense are symbolic to good advice - words of wisdom - spirit lifters - positive reinforcements etc etc... I like this piece becuz I've always felt this way about the company we keep!!...
...it reads as follows...
It is better to be alone, than in the wrong company!... Tell me who your best friends are and I'll tell you who you are. If you run with wolves you'll learn to howl, but if you associate with eagles you'll learn how to soar to great heights. "A mirror reflects a man's face, but what he's really like is shown by the kinds of friends he has chosen." The simple but true fact of life is that you become like those with whom you closely associate. For the good, the bad, the less you associate with some people the more your life will improve. Any time you tolerate mediocrity in others it increases your mediocrity. An important attribute in successful people is their impatience with negative thinking and negative acting people. As you grow, your associations will change. Some of your friends will not want to go on. They will want you to stay where they are. Friends that don't help you climb, they will want you to crawl. Your dreams, those that don't increase will eventually decrease!! Consider this: Never receive counsel from unproductive people. Never discuss your problems with someone incapable of contributing to the solution, becuz those who never succeed themselves are always first to tell you how. Not everyone has the right to speak into your life. You are certain to get the worst of the bargain when you exchange ideas with the wrong person. Be careful where you stop to inquire for directions along the road of life. Wise is the person who fortifies his life with the right friendships...
"Wow"
Now if those are not words of wisdom, what are!?!?!... Like noted - I'm not sure who originally wrote this but it is surely something to consider! My friends and associates are at best a handful but I do know of people who have an assortment of friends and some with so many that it's hard to tell their aim - I say to each his own - I also say "Birds of a feather flock together".
If anyone could tell me the author of the above I'd be very grateful but for now let's read it - consider its worth and figure out who our friends are... that is - if you don't already know!!
I'm out!
