Donald T. Sterling
Banned for Life from the NBA

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver had
little choice but to ban L.A. Clippers
owner Donald T. Sterling from the NBA
for life. Silver, like anyone of average
intelligence realized, the NBA had to
distance itself swiftly, and permanently
from the likes of a known bigot like
Donald T. Sterling.

What makes now appropriate to do so, as
opposed to years ago when red flags were
raised concerning Sterling. The Los
Angeles Clippers are a marketable franchise
now, were as years ago, they were a joke
of the NBA. The previous NBA Commissioner
David Stern, and the other owners, as well
as prominent people around the game knew
Donald T. Sterling had the cash to keep the
franchise afloat and his ego would keep
him doing so, despite the Clippers losing
records, year in and year out. In 2014, the
NBA knows it has options unavailable before
that allows them to sending Sterling packing
because several big money names out there are
more inclined to step in and invest their money
in a franchise that's making the playoffs. So
the "ban for life" was as much as business
timed decision as it was a decision forced
upon the NBA and Commissioner Silver by the
political and personal pressures from all
corners, that Sterling's racist rant created.

One thing we must not loose sight of
and that is, there are other Donald T.
Sterling's out there, they just haven't
been busted on audio tape.
