Hi all!
Well, badnew ob the "going home" front. The hearing didn't go my way over the sentence credit. The prosecutor lied and said her agreement to the credit was just a mistake. The judge took back the credit so I'll be here until the end of July. *sigh*
The thing is that at this point I really don't care much about 6=months (I'm almost 22 years out of 25 served). It's just getting my hopes up. Obviously, most people in prison get resigned or reconciled to e the time they have to serve. Even I'd it's a life sentence. But it is not the same thing as hope. Giving someone hope, looking forward to something imminent, only to take it away. Now that's cruel and unusual punishment.
I'm fighting off this putting back into a deep depression solely on my anger at this point. I try to console myself with saying that I have less than 6-months to go but its pales next to that primal urge to scream and rage against the system. So, my only solution is to channel that anger into constructive matters.
The federal lawsuit overcrowding is fast approaching 40 declarations filed by other incarcerated individuals across the state.
Personally, my state lawsuit for an accident on the streets is close to setting. I have a call with the attorney tomorrow morning to iron out the details.
My post conviction motion is still pending so I'll continue fighting on that front. Maybe get some charges reduced or something. No use quitting now! The sentence was always a sidebar issue anyways.
I've got a ServSafe exam coming up at the end of the month to renew my Wisconsin Food Manager's License prior to my release.
I'm also going to be starting the Blackstone paralegal course soon. I was previously on track for it but was wait into get out. I'm going to challenge myself to complete the entire course before my release.
No matter what I end up doing for a living, I plan to continue with legal challenges for myself and others.
That's the plan for now. Keep doing what I can. Remember, stay safe and sane out there! I'll be out there with you soon enough!
Solidarity,
Tony
P>S> I did get a very nice note from an individual running this site (for which I am very grateful). Apparently, I can keep posting even after my release so I plan in doing so. Actually document my experience on parole as it's happening! So, this blog will be going for a while yet! Thank you Betweenthebars.org!
