Heaven Sent

Heaven Sent (Luke 2:7)

Can you imagine what young Mary thought,
When first she gazed into her baby's eyes?
And what emotions, in her throat were caught,
When first she heard her little baby's cries?

She was just a young girl when she gave birth,
But she'd believed what the angel had said.
The "word of God" would dwell upon the earth,
"Joy to the world" would soon be heralded.

The "Son of God" was nestled to her chest,
How overwhelmed she must have felt by love.
The "love of God" had been made manifest -
The "King" that prophets had been speaking of.

He would be wounded for our transgressions
But the word of truth had also revealed -
Through our belief and through our confessions,
By His stripes - we could all be healed.

But SHE was just a "young girl" on that day,
A young mother - who knew what it meant,
To hear the word of God - and to obey -
Then hold a gift that was heaven sent.

Hallelujah!
