Us humans often have a knee-jerk reaction to the things or events we experience. No surprise really, since it's a part of our primitive survival instinct. But, as humans, we also have sections in our brain that are open to interpreting and reasoning. To learn from those "gut reactions", to act on them or suppress them.
I think there will be a day where the wrongly accused or those who have a true sense of virtue can be paroled fairly. Until then, I hope you stay true to your promise in this letter and never give up being a better person. Carve it into your soul if you must. It's a step in the long road ahead. I want to believe in that some day, no matter how long or short it takes.
That's disgusting about the food in there. That's something you hear about and think only happens in the movies. It's sad that that's not the case.

To answer your question, I'm female, happily married for almost 15 years. So I get where you're coming from when you talk about looking for a partner. I find it a very important part of life, and hope you find someone to share your life with as well.
I found this Between the Bars site and find the blogs really interesting, and also helpful in understanding what a good friend of mine is going through. She was recently sentenced to prison for life, and I am one of the few people on the outside who are standing by her as she goes through this.
I also like to comment on the blogs here as encouragement for the authors, as I do know from my friend how difficult and isolating prison can be. I'll be reading along and you'll see me comment again, for sure! I don't comment on all the posts, just the ones that I find interesting. Your outlook on life is very positive and I think that's a great thing!

Sorry to hear about your mom and pray for both of you. I am happy to hear your daughter is in your life and pray for her well being also. Never did I think you were using the brain statement as an excuse. I agree with you, as a mother of a now 25 year old. I am seeing my son finally "GET IT" to a certain point.
As far as the other half. I agree he needs to be reminded that he is a man and loved. We have had some ups and downs these last 6 months. There have been a lot of changes. And those changes in my life effected us both. I do everything I can to help make his time easier. But as I tell him I also have to take care of things here. I am the only one taking care of both of us, and I do help my son when he needs it. I often put both of them before me. Which is not always a good thing either. Reading your reply to me, made me realize that I am all he has. Even though he has family they really don't do much for him.
So tomorrow I am going to surprise him and go see him. It's been 6 months and he will be so surprised and happy. And now I am like a kid at Christmas and can't sleep.
P.S. That picture to him, is never gonna happen. I will send him pictures but I am careful about what I send. I don't trust people enough to make sure it does not get in the wrong hands.
