A Crass and Tacky Subject—in Poor Taste

Not all of my blog posts are meaningful or serious. This one is frivolous, crass and tacky so if you offend easily, do not read it.

The dictionary defines crass as "without refinement or sensitivity", "gross." Perhaps tacky is a better word, meaning "in poor taste" or "vulgar." That's what this blog post is, so skip it if this sort of stuff does not appeal to you.

I was looking up songs on my tablet the other day trying to find a particular song which I didn't know the name of. The tablet has a function that allows me to search a specific word or phrase to see if it is used in the title, artist or album. I thought the song had the name Annie in it but couldn't find what I was looking for so I speculated that it might be Fanny in the title.

Lo and behold, I came across a group called Fannypack—a name I never heard of before. There are hundreds, if not thousands, or artists I've never heard of available on the tablet. I didn't find the song I was looking for, but one of Fannypack's titles caught my eye: "Cameltoe." "Are you kidding?" I thought to myself. Nobody would write a song about cameltoe. For those of you who don't know what that slang term means, it is when a woman's pants are so tight in the crotch that you can see the outline of her lips.

I sampled the song. The group's singers sounded like young black women and they were sining about older women going out in public with their cameltoe showing. To me, it seemed like a hilarious song. But I'm not big on getting a laugh at other people's expense and I don't understand why I find it so amusing. It reminds me of the sort of humor found in young boys when they are at the "farting is funny" stage of life.

If you find something like this funny, go ahead and listen to the song. But if the whole idea seems crass and tacky, you won't be missing anything important by skipping it.
