The Good Ship Jesus
In the years 1562, '64, and '67, they came to our shores in hordes
With Bible in one hand, gun in the other in search of human cargo
Later this boat was Christianed and given the name
The Good Ship Jesus by the people of the Spanish main
They maintained that Jesus was doing a good thang for the poor savages
By kidnapping them and taking them to the New World
To make them civilized, they Christianized and enslaved them
And made them believe that this was the will of The Good Ship Jesus
But the people were certain that their lot was not to be servants
So prayed for The Good Ship Jesus to come back and take them home
The first generation dies off with hope
But told the next generation to still keep praying for that boat
'Cause the Bible says He shall return...
Their initial hope was in the boat 'cause
It was the one that brought them to this cruel land, right?
Eventually, generations forgot that Jesus was only a ship
That took their ancestors on a one-way trip
Which caused them to slip and slip firmer into Willie Lynch's grip
He said control their minds by making them forget
400 years of anticipation and waiting and praying to Jesus
Not knowing our hope was in a boat that floats with Afreekan cargo captives
Yes, Jesus walked on water to the shores of Afreeka and kidnapped us
Taking us across the Atlantic to the New World
Where the Afreekan man, woman, boy, and girl
Were enslaved for 400 years in a foreign land
Like the descendants of Abraham
And to this day their minds were always on Jesus
To come back and release them
But there is no second coming
