I just received your comment from my AMC 2012 posting and I'm glad that I'm able to reach out into the community and the people in it. It's not every day that those of us who are incarcerated get a chance to offer their advice or thoughts about how to keep us from being labeled a "statistic" or a "cause," and know that they're really being heard. A lot of people in the outside world have and are being fed a media version of prison and prisoners - think about it, any prison movie or show that's placed on T.V. or in theaters, is shown with an atmosphere of death, violence, and inhumane activities; don't get me wrong fights and disruptions do take place, but not as they're portrayed. I've been incarcerated for 6 years, and have only had one fight, so that is an aspect that I believe people should look at. I don't know if you have read my page or for that matter anyone's pages - but I hope that you do. I truly appreciate that you're willing to take my advice into consideration for your job; with that said I hope that you will venture to communicate with myself and others outside of this forum - I believe that getting to know us is not just a "business" and should be taken seriously. I have recently written to the Between the Bars organization and asked them to change my page; my new format is to have a topic of the month and let the people pick a topic, I have also added a poetry corner in which I have included poems that I've written and the story behind them. You may find that with this new concept people will feel more free to express themselves, and I hope that you will spread the word to others about the site.
