Description: Male, 38, Mixed, Some College, lifer.

This is my first time blogging and I'm sure that it isn't just supposed to be about the prison experience, why would that be of interest?
Do I personalize it for you to make it ring unique, and therefore authentic. Will my words be any more significant than the myriad others?
Can my brand of anguish trump the tyrannous oppression felt by so many trapped souls?
Hella-no! Can't give you an exclusive on a common problem in our society, there is crime and there is punishment. However, not too common is a talk of fairness, mercy, correction and rehabilitation.
...By myself I can't hope to shed light on the conundrum that is the prison industrial complex, it's victims are condemned already - nobody hears the cries of the convict. Does anybody care that I am buried under a mountain of time for a property crime, or that there are plenty of worse people in society that will never see bars as long as I will?
Not that I feel entitled for a burglary record when others are here for violent offenses, but that my life wasn't worth deeper inspection for mitigation on my behalf. Even some violent crimes are explained by some past trauma which could not be, but should have been treated. Why not talk of that?
Until real investment is made into the human condition, our condition, we prisoners are at a loss for words of any meaning. We are just prisoners of a broken promise.
Thank you Between the Bars and fellow bloggers the world over, let us cry for the sake of crying and talk until someone acts.

Hi Cee -

Thanks for writing! I finished the transcription for your post. I found it to be very thoughtful and raw - I could really get a sense of the feelings you conveyed through your writing. I agree with you that an investment into the human condition is vital, we need to understand how we relate to each other, and how we can reach out to help and respect those in need. Congratulations on your first blog posting, I'm looking forward to reading your future blogs! Happy holidays.
