Words,
words rare and precious,
the power they contain!
Words carry the power of
GOD.

I was moved, for some reason, to reply to your post. It would be my pleasure to, perhaps, light a candle for you, even in your "noxious" environment....from time to time....
Happy New Year! ...for what it's worth, right?...
Warm thought for you....jus cuz....

Hello =]
My name is Kayla. I am 5'6 and weigh 125-130. Yes, petite girl...
Your words inspired me and made me want to write to you. Maybe you'll get this? Maybe you wont? I can write to you, but at the moment since i am online, i figured i would write to you on here. If no one else has read your blog, I have. I payed close attention to the words that you expressed about yourself and life in general and you sound like a very intelligent man.... What an amazing personal trait that is.
God Bless

Whoeveruwantmetobe, yes I know of this man all to well. He caused alot if pain to people I love. I don't want to get into details but if he caused all of this pain for us from a prison, I could only imagine the pain and torture he caused with his physical presence.. God has the last word and I continue to hope things will be made right and that innocent ones will be proven innocent. I am very sorry for your pain also. Take care.

I noticed where u said that you love the feeling of helping others that cant help themselves. Thats how I am. Thats why im majoring in Criminal Justice... Helping someone who either has an addiction or is mentally unstable is the biggest joy I ge tout of life. I cant help but have a big heart and always lending a hand.

Hey Anthony,
Yeah no problem I'm open and I tend to say what ever is on my mind. I checked out your picture on your profile! And I deffinitly have to say you are very attractive! I'm gonna try to get a recent picture to send to you. Just don't have one on hand. Yes I'am very mature for my age I get that all the time and everyone that doesn't know me tends to think I'm much older because of my maturity. The reason why is because I had to wake up and wake up quick! Being pregnant at such a young age and having to do it on my own made me the strong determined women I'am today. I will never give up I will keep climbing till I'm back on top. And no I don't have any idea of how amazing I'am? Iam a giving person you are right about that I would give the shirt off my back for anyone that needed it.No one takes care of me but me lol. I'm very independent. Yes I would let someone put me first but to tell you the truth I have let men in me and my childrens lives and been taken advantage of and chewed on and spit out. So I'm scard to let myself fall again. I've been put threw alot its just hard to trust. You feel me? I will hand write you as soon as I get settled. I just ended up having to move in with one of my girls cuz moneys tight right now. I wrote down your address don't ever thnk that we will loose contact because I'm not that type of women. I enjoy talking to you and I can't wait to learn more about you Anthony! You put a SMILE on my face when I went into my email and saw the reply from you. Well I got to get going and get somethings done. Take care of yourself. I hope to hear from you soon

Sincerly,
(: Nicki

Thank you so much for sharing, you really are an incredible writer. My name is Elizabeth, 28. My mother is a history professor who teaches general ed in a male correctional facility in another state than mine. She is a huge advocate for inmates rights. Really huge. She started teaching inmates while her husband was an inmate in another prison. She managed to slip into the job without sharing that information and when it surfaced she was almost fired for it, but long story short she was prepared for battle and had done her homework. My stepdad's case is so whacked out, my mother spent straight days and nights with no sleep, without any help from drugs, studying documents and everything to do with his case. She represented him in court, he never had a lawyer. She ended up getting him an appeal and proved him innocent after he was incarcerated for 2 years. She then filed a suit against the DA. Can't say that he would have had the same luck with a court-appointed attorney or even the most expensive one. She's learned it all, heard it all, seen it all and used her position in corrections to set as many things straight as she can while she has a voice and position to do so. I hear about all the corruption in prisons all the time. I would love to share these little pieces of your mind with her, and I'm almost certain she will have a lot to say to you!
I will send a letter with more info via post in the very near future. I look forwawrd to exchanging thoughts and ideas with you.

Regards,

Elizabeth

Hi Marcus - thank you for your thoughtful response to my comment. I appreciate your interest in dialogue and learning, and I'm happy to try to answer your questions as best as I can. Sorry for my delay in responding, too - things got a little crazy here around the holidays and then catching up from the holidays!

I subscribe to BTB on a blog reader website, which means I get notified through that website whenever there is a new post from anyone. There are a LOT of posts so I don't read them all, but I skim the first bit and read the ones that catch my attention the most. That is how I got to your post - the subject matter caught my attention. I originally heard about BTB through my job. I work at a legal services non-profit.

Like you I try to be open to learning from whoever I can, from co-workers, to strangers I come across throughout the day, to people on the internet including BTB bloggers. I definitely realize that one person's experience is never going to tell the whole story - so if I don't go beyond myself, and even beyond those who are closest to me, I'm going to miss out on a lot. That being said, it takes a lot of humility to learn from others, and I am not nearly as humble as I wish I was! So a lot of the time I'm not as open as I could be to other people…but I'm working on that.

I suppose everyone goes through struggles at one time or another in their life, although of course there can be a lot of difference in the degree it goes to. There are a lot of struggles I have been lucky to not have, I guess. I did struggle with depression at one point in time. After a while I was able to get through that by realizing I couldn't handle everything by myself and had to open up to other people more. It was very hard for me to learn to let other people help me and take care of me, but I realized that is how human beings are supposed to function. These days I am very religious/spiritual - I pray a lot to get through tough times and reach out to my support network. In the end I guess the important thing is just to keep trying!

I feel inspired by a lot of things, by finding beauty in the world, trying to do good work, trying to look out for those around me and do what I can for them. I feel inspired by people, including the bloggers on BTB, who find ways to stay positive in spite of the difficult situations they face and who stay committed to a better future.

Happy new year! I'll look out for other posts from you.

-Voice12
