Hello Nasir. I have read some of your blog posts and they are very interesting. I like seeing these different perspective you have on life. My name is Alyssa and I am asking a few people on the betweenthebars.org some questions for my own research and was wondering if you would answer them if you felt like it. What are ways that some men deal with missing women in prison? Do you think men change not being around women? If so in what ways? How do you think this affects them when they are released? Do you think men become more reserved or dont know how to deal with a womens "touch" when released? ;) I just want to hear your input on this out of curiosity. Speak your mind. I would love to maybe see a blog post about this too. Thank you. Hope to hear back :)
Thanks for writing! I finished the transcription for your post, and I've learned a lot from what you had to say!!!Yes,I too believe that even though many who have LWOP, should have the right to vote as well!!!They are doing the time for their crime,so they should have every chance to have their voice be herd!!!After all, they are humans too!:)
I consider myself a movie buff & when I saw your favorite books were "Wurthering Heights" and "Papillon" you pique my curiosity.
Although I haven't read the books, the movies are Great. ( Reading & comprehension are difficult for me as I am dyslexic) Although I have read some, "Of Mice & Men", "Lord of the Fly's", "To Kill a Mocking Bird". The must reads in school.
As I am dyslexic my brain has compensated in other ways. I have an unbelievable memory. I have so much useless information stored up in my noodle it's nuts! .. No one will watch Jeopardy with be.
If you care to correspond and discuss a wide array of subjects I'll do my best.
Heard that was Something my father was supposed to teach me. But he left both of us But it was a woman that use to beat me I aint crying You know I love you Aint asking for credit for trying You know a lot about what I don’t know But let me tell you what I do know A lot of men is incarcerated From getting it wrong trying to impress you One way or another trying to collect you Connect to you, trying to forget you Trying not to Regret that too, damn, Burning trees, yearning for relief From everybody trying to get me How can I fight on my knees, While my women is trying to kick Me And I know I hurt you But excuses don’t come with love Got my heart broke too, feel me, Sweep my pain under the rug I know we spoke the Universe up together I put that Prince inside you When you was under the weather And whether or not we ever agree on one thing The only reason I’m known as a man Is because you named me King Cool? Cool, we good? Good, The Queen’s King.
I'm sorry that I'm super late in responding to you. I'm glad you got my pics and you liked my poem! I got Xzyzst's letter too. Tell him that I will look into those books by Gloria Wekker. I also enjoyed reading his poem King. My favorite line is "I know we spoke the Universe up together..." I'm going to transcribe his poem on here and I'll print both King and Queen so that I can mail it to you. Also, Xzyzst said that your friend Julia is also helping with the project. It would be nice to meet her. I'm glad that you two have extra help!
I think I mentioned everything that I wanted to. If I think of something I forgot I'll send another message.
You don't have the right to call yourself our father. My mother raised us. My family hold no ill will to you but you have made your own cold Steel bed, now you must lay in it. We are all grown with our own lives and families that we must give priority to. I don't speak for my 3 Brothers but as for Me, the only girl, I hope you have found the Lord and spend your days in prayer. If you have the Lord you are never truly alone. And he will easy any pain or guilt you carry. I have forgiven your sins Ray, with only the help of my mother and the Lord. I have never responded to you in the past but have read your letters over the years. I have been praying alot about the situation and the Lord has guided me to approach this situation very differently than I normally have in the past. Get with God. & I will continue to reply to you. Be real...

Heard that was
Something my father was supposed to teach me.
But he left both of us
But it was a woman that use to beat me
I aint crying
You know I love you
Aint asking for credit for trying
You know a lot about what I don’t know
But let me tell you what I do know
A lot of men is incarcerated
From getting it wrong trying to impress you
One way or another trying to collect you
Connect to you, trying to forget you
Trying not to Regret that too, damn,
Burning trees, yearning for relief
From everybody trying to get me
How can I fight on my knees,
While my women is trying to kick Me
And I know I hurt you
But excuses don’t come with love
Got my heart broke too, feel me,
Sweep my pain under the rug
I know we spoke the Universe up together
I put that Prince inside you
When you was under the weather
And whether or not we ever agree on one thing
The only reason I’m known as a man
Is because you named me King
Cool? Cool, we good? Good,
The Queen’s King.

So does he want me to print pages 1 through 6? I'll send it with the two poems.
