Rob, unless she really has her heart set on a Shih Tzu, I'd tell her to check out other shelter options. I got my 3-year-old Lab at an SPCA. It was emaciated, with scars all over and many other signs of mistreatment, but one of my great joys has been getting it back in shape. Labs are the most loving dogs, great with kids. Just my opinion, but smaller dogs tend to be high-strung, always barking and high-maintenance. But no matter the type, definitely rescue a dog from a shelter. Bill
Nice picture. Who is the artist? I hear you are at Warm Springs. Hope everything is working out for you the way you want it. Everybody says 'Hi" and God bless you and take care of you. You are in our prayers daily. Alex V. Powers
That last sentence: "Amazing, even in prison among harden, abandoned human beings, the advent of death is still a Commanding Performance." That sent chills done my spine, particularly for describing Death as a "Commanding Performance". This is a very moving, well-written piece. I wonder why you decided to write about this, given that the events described seem to take place in 1995. Popped into your head randomly? Sometimes I will see a leaf or an old book, and profound moments from my past will spontaneously appear in my mind's eye. You know what I mean? Anyway, take care, man; we need to keep living for those who have passed away. Can't wait to read your next piece. Best, Calhoun25
