Poetic Justice

Problems between you and I will never cause
Our love to die, no matter how hard outsiders will try, see
Even though I'm locked behind the walls, gates, doors, and locks
The love in my heart will never stop and my soul will spark at your voice
It may seem like prison talk, but your scent forever
Calls me in the deepest dark of this jungles fire and pain,

Just as I call out to you when the days turn into night and my eyes shut
Under the screams of those who are less fortunate that I, like Maya Angelou
Still I rise to the highest high presented to me through your presence in
The pictures you send to me - there are hidden messages
In my expressions and lessons to be learned from the love inside me that burns
Consistantly, I'm hoping that as you read these words my voice will call out and be heard, but
Even if they're not I hope that with all of my essence, you will continue to be my

An often ironically appropriate outcome in which wrong doing is punished and virtue rewarded

Wow Amondo,
I think you should submit some of your poetry to my school. I go to the Residential College at the University of Michigan and we're looking for work like this!
I hope you consider it! And keep up the good work! :)
Here's the information about how to submit:

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
The Michigan Review of Prisoner Creative Writing
Submit your poems, short stories and essays for publication

The Prison Creative Arts Project (PCAP) is accepting submissions for The Michigan Review of Prisoner Creative Writing, Volume 6. The review will be published in March 2014 and launched with readings in Ann Arbor and Detroit.

We seek writing that is original, unexpected, well-crafted, lively, and creative. We welcome work from both beginning and experienced writers. We expect many submissions, so please send only your best work. Writers whose work is published will receive a free copy of the review, if approved by your facility.

Guidelines
Submissions will be accepted from July 24 to September 15, 2013.

Submit no more than three poems, one short story, or one essay. Poems should be 1-2 pages (typed or handwritten); essays and short stories should be under 2500 words (ten double-spaced typed pages, or twenty handwritten pages).

Entries may be typed or handwritten. If you handwrite, make sure your writing is legible (readable by others).

Format your piece so that it looks on the page the way you want it to look in the book. Consider aspects such as line breaks, spacing, punctuation, and spelling.

Write or type your full name at the top of each page, and number the pages.

All pieces must be accompanied by a submission form. Please talk to your Special Activities Director regarding this form.

Only submit work that you, personally, have written.

Please do not send in the only copy of your work. We cannot return submissions.

Only submissions that follow the above directions will be read.

Send work to:

What's up Mondo?
I received your letter the other day. I finished ERP on August 16th and got out on August 26th. All is Well. I have to do 90 days on the bracelet. Right now I only get out from 6am to 6pm but hopefully it is going to get changed to 8 to 8 soon. I got a cell and a nice laptop and got online right away. Technology has gotten a lot better in the last three years. These smartphones are awesome. I haven't been on no bullshit. I started smoking squares again but that's it. No liquor or weed or anything else. Trying to keep my head clear and stay focused. I got some pussy day two. I've talked to a lot of old friends on facebook, who all claim they are such good friends, but where were they for me over the last three years. It is what it is. I'm working on getting my license and a car. I got offered a job doing construction for $10/hour cash, but I have to get dropped off in Illinois about 20 minutes from my house at 6am. So I'm working on finding a ride until I get some wheels. I can't get my license until September 24th. I had to pay three hundred bucks for an alcohol assessment because of my DUI. I paid that and my assessment is on the 24th then I have to get insurance and reinstate my license. I found a 2008 crown Victoria with only 60k miles on it for $2500. I'm probably going to buy that or a 2000 Camaro SS I found in Madison with 75k miles. I'll see what I can do as far as a pen pal but I can't promise anything. I will write back when ever you write and I'll help out anyway I can. Right now just trying to get my shit together. I looked up Da Love. It says he's in a "supervised living facility" in Stanley WI. I only know of the medium there, do you know where they sent him or if he got his 75%? Tell everyone I say what's up like Boo Man, Vance, and Flacco. I'll keep in touch this blog makes it a little easier than regular mail. Let me know when this gets to you. Keep your head up in there.

Peace out brother,
Todd
